A Slice of Revival and the Dark Side

June 26, 2011

“I have found that, like a mathematical equation, when one or more man or woman falls on their face and begins to cry out broken, longing, loving God and desiring His Presence instead of ministry, this is when I have seen Revival, three times. God begins to bring together the hungry, the tired, the weary, the burdened, those that are tired of just reading and studying about God and those that want to see God and are broken when they are not in His Presence. This gathering of those that are hungry and long to cry out day and night for him, this is when God shows up. When you want Him alone and not ministry for yourself, not a legacy for yourself, not glory for/from your ministry, not to be known in the marketplaces as the wise anointed Pastor, not to be known as the awesome musician, not to be glorified before men. I’m not talking about a bigger church or sounder doctrine, I’m talking about when broken people whom finally die to themselves, their dreams, their talents, their ministries, their desire for themselves and all their heart truly wants is for God to show up. This is when God begins to speak, divine appointments happen and peoples hearts are full and experiencing God all day long in a Biblical way that meets the stories of the Bible. This is when Love is seen and experienced. A seed must die before it can live and give life. The beauty of this is that everyone within arms, ears and eyes reach will want to be part of a family/body of Christ that is like this. People like this shine. People dead to themselves and alive to Christ and serving each other are noticed. The world begins to get jealous and wants in on this family, body of Christ.

The sad and dark side of this is that many leaders in the churches can easily get jealous in a bad way. And i’ve seen it not only in the Bible but many times on this earth and in my life. Some churches and leaders in the churches get jealous and try to crush the revival and try to put brother against brother, sister against sister, and they usually do this before the world has a chance to see and get jealous of the love and come running. And like Jesus said “What sorrow awaits you experts in religious law! For you remove the key to knowledge from the people. You don’t enter the Kingdom yourselves, and you prevent others from entering”  and “For you crush people with unbearable religious demands, and you never lift a finger to ease the burden.”

Be strong friends, for Revival is on its way. We are tasting a slice now and the jealousy is awakening in both good and bad ways. Hold strong for God will send the lost and shine brightly through those that do not fear man and are not seeking glory for themselves and their ministry. May the Word of God be written upon our hearts and not only inside our heads” – Ethan Holub
